Property Description

This detached, single-storey barn conversion is nestled in undulating Norfolk farmland. Having an open plan design bringing together a blend of traditional with modern style makes Stackyard Cottage a perfect choice at any time of year. Do remember to bring your walking boots, as there are many local walks and bridle paths available direct from the door, including the Weavers Way, local woodland trails and a designated path leading to North Walsham alongside Dilham Canal. The open plan living area boasts a toasty wood burning stove, a contemporary kitchen, and being all on one level, it makes it ideal for guests that prefer to avoid stairs. Nestled in the owner’s grounds, the property retains privacy and also has its own driveway entrance. The owner is a qualified beauty therapist and offers on-site treatments, so why not treat yourself to a relaxing massage or facial? The barn has an enclosed lawned garden with pretty manicured borders and a patio with spectacular open views across the farmland, perfect for watching the sun rise and set.

This is the perfect location from which to explore both the Norfolk Broads and the Norfolk coast, just a 30-minute drive away. The seaside village of Mundesley, 7½ miles, has an excellent sandy beach, and the traditional seaside resorts of Cromer and Sheringham offer wide sandy beaches and a host of attractions. Cromer has a pier, a carnival week in August and, weather permitting, a spectacular New Year’s Day celebration with fireworks. Sheringham is home to the North Norfolk Steam Railway, Splash Leisure and Fitness Centre, and Sheringham Park. Numerous bird sanctuaries, salt marshes and wildlife centres punctuate the region, and popular RSPB nature and bird reserves can be found at Cley-next-the-Sea, Blakeney and Morston. Wroxham, 9 miles, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads, provides daily boat hire, river trips, shops, waterside cafés and restaurants, making it an ideal starting point to explore the Norfolk Broads. Visit the market town of North Walsham, 3 miles, with its farmers market, shops, cafés, restaurants and supermarket. Sprowston Hall, for leisure and golf course, is 12 miles away.

A day trip to Norwich, 14 miles, is a must during your stay, with its fantastic castle museum, cathedral, two excellent shopping centres, market square, theatre, numerous art galleries and plenty of cafés, pubs and restaurants. Places of historical interest and stately homes can be found within easy driving distance including Blickling Hall, which boasts open-air concerts and events during the summer season. For children, visit Banham Zoo, Wroxham Barns and Craft Centre, BeWILDerwood treetop adventure park, Dinosaur Adventure Park at Lenwade, Muckleburgh Tank and military museum, and West Runton Shire Horse Centre. River fishing is available 4 miles away (licence required). Beach 7½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
