Property Description
Situated within the original walled gardens of the Castlemartyr Estate manor house, these three lodges offer light-filled, open-plan living areas with wooden floors, and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities. Each lodge has outside decking with furniture.
The self-catering Castlemartyr Holiday Lodges are nestled in 220 acres of mature landscaped grounds with meandering streams, parklands and a tranquil lake that is abundant with wildlife. Although they are adjacent to the 5 star Castlemartyr Hotel, there is no access to the hotel’s leisure centre or swimming pool, but guests can enjoy the golf and hotel spa facilities at an extra charge. The lovely hotel bar and restaurant are within a few minutes’ walk of your holiday lodge.
Just 20 miles from Cork city, the little village of Castlemartyr is a historical village with a range of sites of interest, reflecting almost every era in the country’s history and pre-history. This is a very desirable holiday destination set in lovely parklands, with a lake, gentle streams, the ruins of an 800-year-old castle built by the Knights Templar, and the manor house (now forming part of the hotel) whose construction began under Richard Boyle, the first Earl of Cork, in the 17th century on lands formerly owned by Sir Walter Raleigh. A pleasant walk through the grounds will bring you to the village pub serving food.
Golfers can enjoy the 18-hole golf course close to the lodges, which has a reputation as a course for all levels. Nearby attractions include The Jameson Experience at Midleton, 6 miles, Fota Wildlife Park and Leahy’s Open Farm. The famed Ballymaloe House restaurant and its cookery school are a short distance away. Ballycotton, 9 miles, is a pretty fishing village with an invigorating cliff walk. Another worthwhile visit is to the Titanic Experience at Cobh. Cork city has good shopping, restaurants, art galleries, music, theatre and night life. Beach 5 miles. Shop 1 mile, hotel bar and restaurant 500 yards. These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 14 guests.
Approximate distance to Cork airport is 39km
