The tidal River Towy runs through the village of Abergwili and has an ever-changing vista. The village is also known for its Bishops Palace, which was home to the Bishop of St Davids since 1542 when the bishop transferred his palace from St Davids to Abergwili. On the doorstep is Carmarthenshire County Museum, where you can step back in time and discover the fascinating art and antiques of Carmarthenshire’s past, set within glorious parkland within the Towy Valley.

The beautiful seaside village of Llansteffan is 25 minutes’ drive away, where you can visit the ruined castle dating back to the early 12th century, along with the Iron Age earthworks still visible to this day, and which once controlled an important crossing of the River Towy. You can enjoy a walk to discover this castle and its epic views overlooking the sand flats and the mouth of the river. Enjoy a day on the beach and relax in the sun. Nearby is the National Botanical Garden of Wales, home to the largest span glass house in Europe and some truly wonderful displays of flora and fauna. Beach 11 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
