Courses: Teeside – Middlesborough – Eaglescliffe – Saltburn by the sea – Cleveland – Billingham
Steeped in more than a hundred years of traditions you will be warmly welcomed when you visit Teesside Golf Club. In the last 10 years it has undergone the largest transformation of any club in the area both on and off the course.
Founded in 1908, Middlesbrough is situated in countryside five miles south of Middlesbrough. With stunning views of the Cleveland Hills, there are many attractive and challenging holes that will test golfers of all handicaps. Designed by James Braid, the course takes advantage of the natural ravines and undulating land that make up our parkland setting. Playing the course is a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Nestled beside the River Tees with the Cleveland Hills as a backdrop, the 6,289 yard James Braid course at Eaglesclffe is both picturesque and demanding due to the rolling terrain and sloping greens. The course is a great challenge for both novice and experienced golfers alike. There are two signature holes at Eaglescliffe; the Par5 14th where the tee shot must be played across a bend in the River Tees; and also the 17th, a downhill 170 yard Par3 across the pond.
Saltburn measures 5,974 yards, par 70 for men and 5,561 yards par 72 for ladies and is a fair and enjoyable test of golf for any level of golfer. The four par 3s are particularly interesting with the 12th being acclaimed as one of the best par 3s in the North East of England. As a result of considerable expenditure on drainage over the last few years, play is possible all the year round.
Cleveland Golf Club was established in 1887, the course is the only true Championship links, and also the oldest course in the county of Yorkshire. Over the club’s 130 year history, it is known that a few architects have had involvement in the design of the golf course, the most famous being Old Tom Morris, Harry S Colt, and then in 2000 Donald Steel designed three new holes.
Billingham Golf Club is a fabulous golf course and wildlife haven, set in fine undulating parkland with views over Teesside and the Cleveland Hills.
