Courses: Kendal – Sedbergh & Windermere

Kendal Golf Club offers some of the best views on from a golf course in the whole of Cumbria, but don’t let that distract you from the golf. You will need to concentrate fully as you make your way around this hilly course, that has many blind shots. Although tiring on the legs, Kendal does offer a rewarding challenge.

Set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales countryside and just 10 miles from the Lake District, Sedbergh Golf Course has been described by many as one of the most scenic and tranquil in the north of England. At 5900 yards (par 70) the golf course certainly isn’t the longest, but it provides a stern test for golfers of all abilities. It has been professionally designed and constructed to USGA standards, and has a beautiful balance of holes, with quaint par 3s, tough 5s and a real mixture of par 4s, some of which are driveable, others stretching well over four hundred yards. You’ll need to be accurate if you want to score well, with tree lined fairways and water aplenty ready to punish anything slightly off line.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District, Windermere is awe inspiring, with the natural rolling landscape providing protection for the course which measures a modest 5122 yards (par 67 with a standard scratch of 66). Situated in a World Heritage Site with the stringent planning permissions of a National Park, the course has to manage without bunkers, but natural hazards including heather and bracken in the rough combined with narrow fairways and rocky outcrops ensures that the course provides a challenge to golfers of all levels and abilities. With some of the best USGA standard greens in the country, paired with fantastic fairways, the course is famous for its excellent condition.
