Established in 1993, Percy Wood Golf Club is acknowledged as one of the finest in Northumberland. Situated close to the Cheviot Hills and moors yet only a short drive from the coast, this delightful parkland setting offers spectacular views of the North Sea and surrounding countryside. The 18 hole, 72 par, undulating parkland course is set within fine mature woodland and is, in the words of its designer, “not for the faint hearted.” Intermittently the layout emerges from the woods into open parkland providing an interesting mix of holes.

West End Cottage is a mid-terrace property in the picturesque village of Whittingham, which is full of history with a peel tower and a church which dates back to Saxon times. Walkers and cyclist will be sure to fall in love with this wonderful scenic area of Northumberland. Enjoy a riverside picnic in the breathtaking Ingram Valley, which is only a short drive away from West End Cottage. Or take a walk in Alwinton, the gateway to the most remote part of the Coquet Valley.

A little further north is the Harthope Valley with its dramatic crags and stunning scenery. The picture postcard village of Rothbury sits at the foot of the Simonside Hills, only 8 miles away, and offers a wide array of facilities including several shops, pubs and tea rooms. The National Trust property of Cragside was the first home to be lit by hydro-electricity, and the elegant house and its grounds make for a great day out. The bustling market town of Alnwick with its cobbled streets, protected by its dramatic castle, the ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland, and one of the film locations for Harry Potter is a pleasure to visit. The heritage coastline this area is renowned for, and designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is only a half hour drive away from the property. West End Cottage provides an excellent base for exploring both the un-spoilt countryside along with the wonderful coastline. Beach 12 miles. Shop and restaurant 4 miles, pub 1½ miles.
