Courses – Windermere – Kendal

Kendal, although not long by modern standards, is a fair and true test of golf for players of all abilities, with every hole a different challenge. Limestone drainage ensures that the course remains playable year round, in all but the most extreme weather. From its elevated position overlooking the historic old town of Kendal, the panoramic views that unfurl when playing at Kendal Golf Club are simply breath taking. At different times you can see as far as the Yorkshire Dales to the east and the Lake District to the north while to the south lies Morecambe Bay.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District, Windermere is awe inspiring, with the natural rolling landscape providing protection for the course which measures a modest 5122 yards (par 67 with a standard scratch of 66). Situated in a World Heritage Site with the stringent planning permissions of a National Park, the course has to manage without bunkers, but natural hazards including heather and bracken in the rough combined with narrow fairways and rocky outcrops ensures that the course provides a challenge to golfers of all levels and abilities. With some of the best USGA standard greens in the country, paired with fantastic fairways, the course is famous for its excellent condition.

Property Description

Alice Howe, (’sister property’ to Bannerrigg and Boston House) a grade II listed property, was designed by Augustus (AWN) Pugin (1812-1852), arguably the greatest British architect, designer and writer of the 19th Century whose name is synonymous with the interior of the House of Lords and Westminster Abbey. This Majestic home is furnished and presented in a unique style – chunky king-size four poster beds, solid ash single beds give and lush decoration – qualities that have justified the property’s 4 star status with Visit Britain.
Alice Howe has 7 bedrooms, and 7 bathrooms ( 5 of which are en-suite). Making it an ideal base for the larger party. The train and bus station are literally around the corner, so the house is easily accessible for those members of your group that are travelling from far and wide. We’ve also extended the car park to accommodate up to 6 cars. The addition of more single beds has made this property ideal not just for couples and families but now also for groups of single friends. The property also boasts its own private hot tub. If you’re looking for a big house to rent in the lakes for an ’upmarket’ stag or hen weekend Alice Howe is the ideal choice. This property can be booked together with any of the neighbouring properties or RENT THE WHOLE STREET – Boston House (GVRCC127199), Bannerrigg (GVRCC127195), White Moss (GVRCC127244) and Number One (GVRCC127243) to accommodate up to 66 people in 30 bedrooms!
