Courses: Woodhall Spa – Horncastle – Kenwick Park & Market Rasen

Woodhall Spa’s Hotchkin course was described as “one of golf’s supreme shotmaking tests” as it was named the 54th best course in the world in Golf magazine’s benchmark ranking. The Hotchkin rose 12 places from its position two years ago in the American publication’s 2020-21 list of the greatest courses in the world. The headline rise is vindication of the club’s decision to engage feted architect Tom Doak to renovate the heathland masterpiece over the course of three years.Ā Created by Donald Steel, one of Britainā€™s foremost golf course architects of the modern era, The Bracken Course, which opened in 1998, has evolved into a course of exceptional finesse that is appreciated and enjoyed every day by golfers of all abilities.Ā Hewn from a contrasting landscape of woodland and arable farmland, the fairways and greenside bunkers are more generous than those of The Hotchkin Course, while the large, welcoming greens are more approachable, yet require thought and touch to master the true-rolling putting surfaces.

This picturesque 18 hole course offers a challenge to any golfer, with plenty of water hazards that will either leave you in self appreciation when landing on the green or cursing your words for the test of skill each hole presents. The course is set in the heart of the countryside and has plenty of natural wildlife, which would make any nature enthusiast want to learn the craft of the perfect golf swing. It boasts tree lined fairways which contribute to making this course one of the most difficult and green in the country.

On the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds the 18 hole Kenwick Park course was opened in 1992. The course is constructed in mature parkland and woodland with an intricate network of lakes. Designed for all players, the Kenwick Park course can be adapted for every level, from the challenging back tees for the expert golfer, to the less daunting normal tees for all stages.

Market Rasen Golf Club has one of the most attractive and beautiful courses in the county. Although not too long, the pine tree lined fairways are narrow and numerous water hazards make it a good test of golf for players of all standards.
