Courses: Llanymynech – Mile End – Oswestry – Henlle Park – Welshpool & Vale of Llangollen

Founded in 1933, Llanymynech Golf Club has expanded over the years from its original 9 holes to its present day 18 hole layout. The course boasts a unique claim to fame in that you can play one round of golf in two separate countries. This is courtesy of Offa’s Dyke running through our course; and on the 4th hole you tee of in Wales and putt out in England. The 5th and 6th holes remain in England before you are cordially welcomed back into Wales on the 7th tee.

Since opening in 1992 Mile End Golf Club has developed rapidly into an extremely popular venue. The total length of the full 18 hole course is 6,229 yards ( par 71 ) for the men and 5,310 yards ( par 72 ) for the ladies. The course covers over 135 acres, and includes a number of water features, notably the 3rd, 8th & 17th holes which have greens protected by large pools. The longest hole is the par 5, 542 yard 14th, complete with it’s two-tiered green. Many visitors comment favourably on the superb design & “layout” of the course, as well as the fact that it really does offer something for golfers of all abilities.

Set in mature parkland, Oswestry’s course is well suited to players of all abilities, it was designed by James Braid, who is renowned for his two tier greens. With good tees, beautiful fairways and quality greens Oswestry, with its excellent drainage is ideal for all year round play.

Created over 130 acres Henlle Park’s Premier Course is set in beautiful Georgian Parkland, it’s a true test for every level of golfer. The mature oak trees provide protection to approach shots with natural lakes and pools making tee shots challenging too. The superb Greens have been built to USGA standards. This high specification and naturally free draining soil ensures good quality year-round playability. The 6161 yard course comprises, three par 5’s, five Par 3’s and a good selection of interesting Par 4’s.

Welshpool is a hillside course where the landscape provides a remarkable golfing experience. There is never a dull moment during an endless run of unique undulating holes. The fairways afford superb lies leading to excellent greens throughout. The feature hole 12th  fairway snakes into the distance several hundred feet below the tee box and then dog legs uphill to the raised green. Stunning! The course measures 5700 yards, par 70 for men and 4913 yards par 71 for ladies. Although it is not the longest of courses it provides an enjoyable test for any level of golfer. The superb natural drainage means that play is possible for 52 weeks of the year.

The Vale of Llangollen GC has been awarded Gold Status by the HSBC ranking system and is regarded as the top inland course in North Wales. The standard scratch of 73 makes it a tough challenge from the back tees, even to the many County and Welsh National competitions held at our magnificent location. The river holes at 9, 15 and 16 are outstanding and the 9th is regarded as one of the best holes in British golf. The 18th makes for a memorable finishing hole which looks simple but can prove testing in front of all your “friends” watching from the decking above. Of course, with such a beautiful setting on the valley floor beside the River Dee and overlooked by the glorious Welsh hills, even a bad round will seem enjoyable.
