Courses: Orchardleigh – The Mendip – Warminster & Wells

Located within an idyllic countryside setting and named as one of the premier layouts in the West of England, Orchardleigh offers many picturesque and demanding holes. The 6824 yard par 72 course for men and 73 for ladies, is set within the estateā€™s established parkland; routed through mature trees and with water coming into play on 7 holes. The practice facilities are among the finest in the region and include a full-length covered practice range, practice bunker and chipping and putting greens.

The Mendip Golf Club – a hidden gem awaits you. Rated in the top 150 courses in the British Isles, Mendip is a superbly designed Membersā€™ golf course open to visitors with magnificent views in a tranquil setting. From its early beginnings as a 9 hole course in 1908 it has been continuously improved into the superb 18 hole course it is today.

One of the oldest traditional courses in the South West of England, Warminster (West Wilts) has been characterised as an inland links course with stunning views across three counties from its hilltop position above Warminster. Designed by the renowned golf course architect JH Taylor, the small greens and undulating approaches ensure you need to have your best short game with you. The fabulous fairways are a delight to walk and play on. With excellent drainage from the natural chalk sub-soil, the course drains extremely well and is rarely closed.

Wells’ woodland course is designed on two levels, Holes 2 to 11 circle the hills and have fine scenic views with undulating fairways and some interesting lies. The 12th Hole, from its elevated tee, is played down to a double green in front of the Clubhouse. It is a short dog-leg par 4 which can be driven by the longest hitters.Ā The remainder of the holes play along the valley where accurate drives are essential. The 13th Hole is a difficult par 5 with ditches crossing the fairway in two locations. The second shot must be positioned with care.
