Courses – Long Sutton – Yeovil – Cricket St Thomas – Wheathill

Set on the outskirts of the town of Yeovil, with excellent transport links, Yeovil Golf Club has two contrasting golf courses. Both courses are draped across two borders of Dorset and Somerset , 27 holes divided by the River Yeo. The Golf Club, in recent times, has been honoured to host major golfing events such as the South of England Boys Open and the hosting of the Ladies South West Match week in June 2014. In 2017, the Club hosted the Dorset County Championships in May.

Long Sutton Golf and Country Club is a privately owned, gently undulating, parkland golf course, set on the edge of the levels in the heart of South Somerset. The golf club was opened in 1991 and is now an established and challenging golf course, which is one of the best in the local area. Since coming under new ownership in September 2019, a huge amount of investment has gone into the golf course to improve the golfing experience. The golf course,  designed by Patrick Dawson, is set in 130 acres and is 6352 yards in length . It is a par 71 course for men and par 72 for ladies. The course has matured and continues to evolve to create an even more exciting and pleasurable golf experience.

Wheathill Golf Club was opened in May 1993 and is set in a jewel of Somerset countryside. It is an 18 hole, parkland course comprising a picturesque 5607 yards of gently undulating fairways along the river Cary. Having matured nicely over the past 25 years Wheathill now offers a challenging round of golf to players of all abilities. Hidden water hazards, bunkers, mature trees & Out Of Bounds on over nine holes makes accuracy a priority. Situated 3 miles west of Castle Cary, you can also enjoy an 8 hole Academy Course, superb practice ground and a very friendly clubhouse.

Cricket St. Thomas benefits from outstanding views across the surrounding countryside, and is kept in top condition. The Par 70 course has matured into a beautiful parkland course with tree lined fairways with tricky greens to test golfers of all abilities. The course benefits from excellent drainage which guarantees all year round golf. The course was originally 9 holes, designed in 1932 by 5 times Open Champion JH Taylor. It was extended to 18 holes in 1991 by Leonard Fisher, who owned the course from 1955-2007, after acquiring adjoining land.
