Courses: Whitby & Scarborough North Cliff
AlthoughĀ Scarborough North Cliff Golf ClubĀ dates back to 1909, the present course was designed by James Braid and established in 1928. The course starts on theĀ cliff topĀ and then moves inland threading its way between trees and spinneys, with lovely views of the North Yorkshire Moors before returning to theĀ cliff topĀ for the final three holes. The course is sufficiently undulating to be interesting without being excessively hilly and is a tough but fair test for golfers of all abilities.
Having originally been founded at Goathland in 1892, Whitby Golf Club has been located in this stunning clifftop location between Whitby and Sandsend since 1895. There are wonderful views along the coast between Kettleness and the iconic Whitby Abbey and views inland towards the rolling North York Moors. Where ever you are on the course, you are guaranteed a view of the sea! Whitby Golf Club is easily accessible from the North East via Middlesbrough and from the South and West via Scarborough and York. The course is perfect for visitors as it is neither too long or difficult, but remains a good challenge for the lower handicap golfer. The weather conditions can also provide an interesting, if unexpected, playing partner.

Property Description
The Old Coach Stable is set right in the heart of Whitby, in the centre of Church Street, one of the oldest parts of the town dating back as far as the 1300s. This contemporary, luxurious, detached cottage has been lovingly restored since its days as a coach house for The Black Horse – but the Coach Stable theme still runs true throughout. Beautifully designed and with tasteful decor and furnishings, it is set over four floors, where a wrought iron staircase leads up to the fabulous mezzanine dining area and out onto the sun trap roof garden. Whitby Abbey, made famous by Bram Stokerās Dracula, is just a stoneās throw away, and right amongst a myriad of shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafĆ©s. This holiday home is perfect for guests who want to be close to all amenities, yet set back just enough to allow for a peaceful relaxing stay. The living space is perfect for socializing, with a contemporary kitchen, Smart TV with a sound bar, and Wi-Fi.
Walk out of the front door and step into the heart of the seaside town, with its quaint cobbled streets, numerous eateries and atmospheric harbour. Taste the wonderful fish and chips and work them off with an exhilarating cliff-top walk, or just relax on the long sandy beach. Jump on the tour bus to make sure you donāt miss out on everything that Whitby has to offer, or take a trip on one of the pleasure boats and enjoy a tour around the harbour and out to sea. There is always something happening in Whitby, from the bi-annual Goth Festival, to the Whitby Regatta, 60ās weekender to folk festivals.
If 3 miles of unspoilt beach isnāt enough, Whitby is also in a fantastic location to get out and explore the natural beauty of the North York Moors and The Yorkshire Heritage Coast.
The unspoilt fishing village of Robin Hoodās Bay, which nestles into the cliffs of the Heritage Coast, is 5Ā½ miles away. Other unspoilt villages include Runswick Bay, Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Staithes. Each has its own story of pirates and smuggling to tell.
An abundance of walks and cycle tracks for ramblers and cyclists include the Cleveland Way, as well as the Esk Valley and its stunning scenery, best enjoyed from the windows of the steam train that travels right into the heart of the Yorkshire Moors National Park from Whitby to Goathland, which is otherwise known as Aidensfield in the TV show āHeartbeatā.
Other attractions for a day out include the Eden Camp Museum, Lightwater Valley and Flamingo Land. The medieval walled city of York is just an hour away and is well worth a visit with attractions including the Jorvik Viking Centre and National Railway Museum. There are car parks nearby and a Park ānā Ride facility 1Ā½ miles away, both at cost. Or for a car free holiday, why not take the train and use the tour bus for sightseeing! Beach 200 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 20 yards.
